Careers

We believe work should move you — not just forward, but inward.

At Sotiyo, we design for people in motion. That includes the way we work together. We value curiosity over certainty, intention over noise, and progress that feels thoughtful rather than rushed.

We’re building something with care. A place for people who notice details, who ask better questions, and who believe that comfort, clarity, and good design can quietly improve everyday life.

If you’re drawn to meaningful work, collaborative thinking, and the idea that how we move through the day matters — you may feel at home here.

We’re always interested in meeting people who share this way of seeing the world.

Soft Goods Designer — Carry & Comfort Products

Location

Madrid (hybrid) or remote within Europe

About Sotiyo

Sotiyo designs comfort-first products for people in motion. From everyday carry to travel transitions, we create smart, quiet solutions that move naturally with modern life. Our focus is not speed or performance—but flow, clarity, and long-lasting comfort.

We believe great products disappear into daily life. They feel intuitive, calm, and intentional. That mindset guides everything we design.

The Role

We are looking for a Soft Goods Designer to help shape Sotiyo’s first generation of carry and comfort products—backpacks, slings, accessories, and future travel essentials.

You will work closely with the founders and external partners to translate human movement, comfort, and smart simplicity into refined, production-ready products. This role sits at the intersection of design, function, and material intelligence.

This is not a trend-driven or overly technical role. It is about designing objects that move well, feel right, and age with grace.

What You’ll Do

  • Design soft goods products from early concept to production-ready development
  • Translate brand principles—Human Flow, smart simplicity, comfort-first—into physical products
  • Develop clear product architectures: silhouettes, volumes, organization systems
  • Define materials, constructions, and finishes with a focus on comfort, durability, and restraint
  • Create sketches, CAD, tech packs, and clear documentation for manufacturing partners
  • Collaborate with suppliers and factories (primarily Asia) during sampling and refinement
  • Balance function, ergonomics, and aesthetic clarity without over-engineering
  • Contribute to a cohesive product language across categories and future collections
  • Participate in design reviews with a critical, thoughtful point of view

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience designing soft goods (bags, backpacks, luggage, accessories, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of carry systems, materials, construction methods, and ergonomics
  • Proven ability to design calm, minimal, premium products with functional depth
  • Experience taking products from concept through production
  • Comfort working with overseas manufacturers and iterative sampling processes
  • Fluency in Adobe CC and CAD tools relevant to soft goods design
  • A sharp eye for proportion, detail, and restraint
  • Ability to explain design decisions clearly and simply

Mindset & Fit

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Care deeply about how objects feel in motion, not just how they look
  • Prefer clarity over complexity
  • Design with intention, not excess
  • Are curious about how people move through cities and daily transitions
  • Believe comfort is both physical and emotional
  • Value long-term relevance over short-term trends

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to shape a brand from its earliest product foundations
  • Direct collaboration with founders with deep experience in design-led brands
  • Creative autonomy within a clear, thoughtful design philosophy
  • A long-term vision spanning carry, comfort, and travel ecosystems
  • Flexible working structure and a human-paced culture

How to Apply

Send a link to your portfolio (PDF or website) and a short note explaining how you think about movement, comfort, and simplicity in product design.

We are less interested in volume—and more interested in how you think.

Factory-Facing Soft Goods Designer

Location

Madrid (hybrid) or remote within Europe

Frequent collaboration with Asia-based factories

About Sotiyo

Sotiyo designs comfort-first products for people in motion. We create carry and travel essentials that feel intuitive, calm, and effortless—products that support everyday transitions without noise or excess.

Our approach values clarity over complexity, durability over trends, and comfort as both a physical and emotional quality. Every product must move well, feel right, and age with intention.

The Role

We are looking for a factory-facing soft goods designer who is deeply fluent in production realities and capable of translating design intent into manufacturable, scalable products.

This role is hands-on and execution-driven. You will work closely with suppliers and factories to refine construction, materials, and processes—ensuring that Sotiyo products meet our standards of comfort, quality, and restraint without unnecessary complexity or cost.

You are not a passive hand-off designer. You actively shape outcomes on the factory floor.

Core Responsibilities

Design → Production Translation
  • Convert design concepts into clear, factory-ready tech packs

  • Define construction methods, stitching, edge finishes, padding systems, and reinforcements

  • Specify materials, trims, foams, webbings, and hardware with production constraints in mind

Factory Collaboration
  • Act as the main design counterpart for manufacturing partners

  • Review samples critically and provide precise, actionable feedback

  • Guide iterative sampling rounds (fit, comfort, durability, usability)

  • Solve production issues without compromising design intent

Quality & Consistency
  • Ensure consistency across SKUs, colorways, and production runs

  • Anticipate tolerance issues, wear points, and long-term durability risks

  • Align cost, quality, and comfort in a balanced, pragmatic way

Comfort & Ergonomics
  • Validate carry comfort, weight distribution, padding density, and user interaction

  • Refine strap systems, contact points, and internal structures through testing and iteration

  • Ensure products feel effortless in real movement, not just on paper

Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Work closely with founders, product strategy, and sourcing

  • Support timelines, MOQ constraints, and production calendars

  • Provide clear documentation and decisions that reduce back-and-forth

What We’re Looking For

Experience
  • 5–8+ years designing and developing soft goods for production

  • Strong background in backpacks, bags, luggage, or technical accessories

  • Direct experience working with Asia-based factories (China, Vietnam, etc.)

  • Proven ability to take products from concept through mass production

Technical Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of soft goods construction and materials

  • Strong CAD + Adobe proficiency

  • Ability to create precise tech packs that factories can execute without ambiguity

  • Understanding of costing drivers and manufacturability trade-offs

Design Sensibility
  • Comfort-first mindset: you design for how things feel in use

  • Minimal, disciplined approach—no unnecessary features or construction

  • Strong sense of proportion, structure, and functional clarity

Mindset & Working Style

You are likely a strong fit if you:

  • Enjoy being close to production, not just concept work

  • Communicate clearly, calmly, and directly with factories

  • Solve problems pragmatically rather than defensively

  • Respect manufacturing expertise while protecting design intent

  • Believe good design simplifies production instead of complicating it

  • Care deeply about quality, longevity, and comfort

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a purely conceptual or trend-driven design role

  • Not fashion-led or seasonal

  • Not focused on novelty or excessive feature stacking

This role exists to make good products real—and make them last.

What We Offer

  • A key role in shaping Sotiyo’s product foundations

  • Direct influence over how products are built, not just how they look

  • Long-term vision across carry, comfort, and travel ecosystems

  • Close collaboration with founders who value design judgment

  • Flexible structure with clear responsibility and ownership

How to Apply

Please share:

  • A portfolio showing production-ready soft goods work

  • Examples where you worked directly with factories

  • A short note on how you approach comfort, durability, and manufacturability

We value clarity, judgment, and execution over volume.

Marketing Generalist / Marketing Lead (Early Stage)

Location

Madrid (hybrid)

About Sotiyo

Sotiyo designs comfort-first products for people in motion. We create smart, understated solutions for urban life and travel—focused on clarity, intention, and ease.

We are at an early stage, building brand, product, and community in parallel. We are looking for someone who can help us set marketing in motion with judgment, not with off-the-shelf playbooks.

The Role

We are looking for a Marketing Generalist with enough experience to make decisions and enough range to handle a wide variety of tasks.

This is a broad role by design. There is no large team behind it. You will need to think, do, test, and adjust, combining strategy with hands-on execution. The initial focus will be on building Sotiyo’s marketing foundations: message, channels, cadence, and coherence.

This is not a junior role, and not a hyper-specialized one. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in ambiguity and building from zero.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Foundations
  • Translate brand positioning into clear, usable messaging
  • Define marketing priorities based on stage and resources
  • Help establish a lean but solid marketing system (what we do, where, and why)
Content & Brand
  • Create and/or coordinate content for website, blog, newsletter, and social channels
  • Ensure consistency in tone, narrative, and rhythm across touchpoints
  • Work closely with design and product to tell clear, meaningful stories

Performance & Growth
  • Launch and manage basic paid campaigns (Meta, Google, testing mindset)
  • Support product launches and early activations
  • Track what matters, learn quickly, and avoid unnecessary complexity

Community & Relationships
  • Help build an early community around the brand
  • Support collaborations, partnerships, and relevant activations
  • Listen carefully to real user and customer feedback
Operations & Cross-Functional Work
  • Coordinate freelancers or external collaborators when needed
  • Work closely with the founders on priorities and execution
  • Manage time and focus in a resource-constrained environment

What We’re Looking For

Experience
  • 4–8 years of experience in marketing
  • Background in DTC, lifestyle, design-driven, or product-led brands preferred
  • Experience working in small teams, startups, or equivalent environments
  • Proven hands-on execution, not only management
Skills
  • Strong judgment around brand and messaging
  • Ability to write and edit with clarity and restraint
  • Practical knowledge of digital channels (web, email, social, paid)
  • Ability to prioritize and self-organize without heavy processes
Mindset
  • Comfortable handling very different tasks within the same week
  • Pragmatic, low-ego, and builder-oriented
  • Sensitive to design, detail, and coherence
  • Long-term brand thinker, not just short-term tactics

What This Role Is Not
  • Not a highly specialized role
  • Not a social-media-only position
  • Not a growth-at-all-costs role
  • Not a job with fully defined processes from day one

This is a role for building, testing, and laying strong foundations.

What We Offer

  • A key role in shaping a brand from the beginning
  • Direct collaboration with the founders
  • Real autonomy and responsibility
  • A thoughtful, human working pace
  • A role that can naturally evolve as Sotiyo grows

How to Apply

Please share:

  • Your CV or LinkedIn profile
  • Examples of projects where you had real impact
  • A short note on how you approach early-stage marketing

We value judgment, clarity, and intention over noise.
