A new way to look at movement
We tend to focus on the big, memorable parts of a journey—the flight, the meeting, the arrival, the view. But if you step back for a moment, you’ll notice something else: most of our time is spent in motion, between one place and the next.

Between home and the airport.
Between tasks.
Between the familiar and what comes after it.
These intervals shape the rhythm of our days. They influence how we feel and how present we are. And for us at Sotiyo, they are not secondary—they are the center of our work.
A few months ago, during a late video call with a close friend who designs footwear for elite athletes, he shared something that stayed with us.
He said:
“People think performance happens in the sprint. But real progress happens in recovery.”

He wasn’t talking about slowing down. He was talking about transition—those brief recalibrations that make the next step feel better, more intentional.
That idea reshaped how we think about comfort in motion. Not as softness alone, but as a kind of mental and emotional ease. A sense of grounded clarity that lets you reset and continue.
And that’s exactly where Sotiyo lives: not in the extremes, but in the in-between.
The rise of in-between design
Today, mobility is constant. Our days unfold through countless micro-movements: hallways, sidewalks, train rides, elevator moments, in-between calls, the quiet space before the next step.
“In-between design” is our response to this evolving landscape.
It focuses on the transitions that rarely get attention, yet quietly shape how the day feels—the walk between meetings, the pause at an airport gate, the familiar stretch between cafés and coworking spaces.
These are more than gaps.
They are opportunities for presence.
Designing for them means creating objects that understand rhythm. Pieces that stay out of the way, support without demanding, and help you feel anchored while moving.
Not accessories—companions.
Designing for the senses
Movement heightens our senses. In new or shifting environments, we notice texture, weight, sound, and the way objects respond to touch.
These sensory cues influence how grounded we feel.
At Sotiyo, sensory design is emotional design.
We consider:
-
the sound and smoothness of a zipper
-
the quiet resistance of a magnetic closure
-
the softness of a pocket lining
-
the way a material ages across months and years
-
the subtle ease of a strap that adjusts without thought
These details aren’t decorative. They’re practical markers of stability—small, reassuring signals that things are where they should be.
They create calm in motion.
They support clarity.

Everyday transitions deserve design
Not every journey requires a boarding pass. Many are simply the spaces between routines: daycare drop-off and your first call, a quick ride on the metro, a walk between neighborhoods, a shift from morning energy to evening quiet.
These micro-journeys influence how we feel far more than the rare long-haul trip.
Yet we prepare for the big travel moments and overlook the everyday ones.
If a product can elevate those daily transitions—your two-block walk to regain focus, your twenty-minute pause to recalibrate—it can transform how you move through your day.
Comfort shouldn’t begin when you leave the country.
It should begin when you leave the house
Less disruption, more presence
One of our guiding principles at Sotiyo is simple:
Good design disappears.
Not by being invisible, but by being intuitive—supporting without interrupting.
A pocket that opens cleanly.
A compartment that reveals what you need at a glance.
A strap that sits comfortably and stays comfortable.
A material that moves the way you move.
When design removes friction, the mind relaxes. Movement becomes clearer. Presence becomes possible—right there in motion.
Comfort isn’t softness alone. It’s clarity.
Comfort as a tool for better movement
Comfort is often framed as indulgence. At Sotiyo, we see it as a tool—practical, functional, and deeply human.
When your body feels at ease, your thinking opens up. Decisions feel lighter. Creativity flows. You move with intention, not urgency.
Comfort doesn’t slow you down.
It helps you move better.
We design for that intersection: presence in motion, simplicity without compromise, ease without excess.

The future belongs to the in-between
Across cities, airports, and workplaces, the world is shifting toward more human-centered movement. Public spaces are being redesigned for flow. Workplaces are creating quiet transitions. Travel is being reframed as a continuous experience—not a destination.
The brands and systems that design for this shift will shape the next decade of mobility.
That is where Sotiyo focuses:
on the transitions,
the micro-moments,
the quiet choreography of everyday life.
Travel is not a destination
We started Sotiyo with a simple belief:
Design for the movement, not the arrival.
Because life unfolds in motion—in taxis, on sidewalks, between tasks, under changing light. These moments are not empty. They are full of meaning.
If design can make these transitions more intuitive, calm, and human, it can make the entire journey better.
Wherever you go, we hope our work brings clarity to your flow.
